Great Harbor Anchorage

I received a great deal of feedback that it is hard to get a sense of where we are so I took a few pics of the anchorage in Great Harbor. I hope it lends some perspective.

This pic is of our anchorage, taken from the flybridge. Over where the buildings are is the marina. The buildings are condos.

One more, taken from the flybridge facing port. Yinsanity is Jacqui and Mike’s home and in the background is a beautiful yacht, Taima, leaving the marina, headed to the cut.

We got out on the kayak. Here’s another perspective of the anchorage. And below are a few pics from our kayak tour of the cove.

On Tuesday we picked up Jacqui in the dinghy and headed to town. Tuesdays are the day the mail boat comes in so we were looking for fresh vegetables. Only not this Tuesday! Some kind of problem with the boat and it was coming on Thursday. We were picked up by a lovely island woman and her adorable 4 year old grandson. When she heard we were headed to the market next to the police station she said, oh there’s a better market than that up the hill, let me take you there. She was right it was a much better market! We scored grapefruit, butternut squash, a pear and a yucca. Next summer I will learn how to grow greens hydroponically. Lettuce is hard to come by.  A loaf of bread, large container of plain yogurt and the few freshies, oh and cookies for my Cookie Monster  = $30+. Food is expensive here, so glad all we need is fill in type stuff. We have a freezer full of protein.

On the way back to the dinghy we stopped at Boomers so Eddie could get conch salad. It’s really conch ceviche. I love ceviche but not conch. He was on his own!

Quite the spot! Rumor has it, it’s hopping on Saturdays! According to Boomer the ladies love the conch salad. No carbs!

The picture below is taken from a small bridge on the road with a narrow opening over the water. The water bottle necked during tide change. I think it’s a cool shot and in the background is Seaquel and Yinsanity.

Alas, the wind finally died down and it was time to move on. The funny thing is I felt a little sad to leave this special spot, from the one who at first was annoyed that the winds were holding us hostage. This life demands slowing down and being comfortable with it. The more we cruise the easier it gets. This morning I found myself wondering how I would ever leave and return to living on land! We are both so happy.

Photo cred Jacqui

Farewell to Jacqui and Mike. They are going on vacation to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji to celebrate their 50th birthdays. Yinsanity will stay in Great Harbour Cay Marina and when they return we will look for one another in the Exuma Islands.

We have been drinking our morning coffee on the bow. This taxi boat went by at about 7:45am. The captain was jamming out to She’s a Bad Mama Jama!  So fun, the islanders seem to always be smiling. https://youtu.be/1RyvimRUs0I

Leaving the cut, headed out on our next adventure.
